i dont think advertising has a part on young people consumin alchol i think its elders
ReplyDeleteI think advertising has little to do with adoloesent consumption of alcohol. Only because parties, friends, parents and, "herdity" pressure teens to drink or they just have the desire to. I have never heard someone ever say "Oh my look at that sign with the yummy alcohol, I think I'll start drinking now." It's just not something that really influences young adults, In my opinuon.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that advertising has a lot to do with the teenage drinkers all that much, either. The teenagers that are drawn to drink are so because of others around them, or a longing to be like the older people they admire, and something that seems so fun to their senior might appear to be the best thing to mimic.
ReplyDeleteI think alcohol advertising DOES play a part in influencing teens. It does it without you knowing it--which makes it even scarier and more dishonest. You see these images all of the time and they get into your head without you ever being aware. I agree with Tiny who says that nobody ever says "Look at the ad with the yummy alcohol"--but unconsciously--we respond.
