image:skyy vodka through a gender lens: The thin models will make wemon believe that the alcohol will not make them gain weight, but rather reduce weight or stay the same. What i wonder is if maybe this is true, is vodka a lower calorie or maybe a healthy-er option v.s. wine cooler-like drinks, or beer?
The third picture down,i look at the picture through sex and gender lense. To me it shows sex appeal to attract men and uses skinny icon girls to attract women, because every women wants to be like them.
I think that the Heineken ad relates mostly to men but more towards young men that may not even be legal to drink at their age. I'm looking through the lense of gender and sexuality and how it directly relates more to men or people who play video games.
The Heineken adverstisment is directed towards guys. So i see it through a gender and sexuality lense. It is directed towards men because beer is seen as a man's drink. And for video games those are geared towards men as well.
The fourth picture down. I used the sex and gender lense. With the game controler it seems that it would attracted younger or middle aged men rather than women. It might also target underaged drinkers by accident.
well yes in most instances. more men play video games than women. a gay dude (if he's not flamboyently gay) would respond in the same way, or close to it. i have no idea how the lebian would react, if she plays video games, then maybe she would want to open a cold one and play some gamecube, and if not maybe she just wants a heineken. women arent being disrespected, or championed and neither are men, and no one is being sterotyped in any way shape or form
The SKYY Vodka ad pertains to younger males since they have young beautiful models advertising it. It shows like a paradise image saying if you drink this Vodka you will have that good of a time as well. Seeing these young beautiful girls might entice girls to drink it as well sayin you could be like us. I looked at this ad through the Lense of Gender and Sexuality.
in response to the sky vodka picture, im looking through the lenses of gender and sexuality and id have to say that this picture would be sort of an icon to women. The women are tan and dressed appealing and women maybe would look at this and think this is what they should look like, sort of a sterotype of "a sexy womon." But this is generally how most adds are these days, sending out "the right messege" or not
through the race and culture lense the vodka ad is more targeted at men because there is a model on it that is saying that men buy this drink more than women also saying you should drink this on a hot summer day because the model is out side on a beach and has the vodka and this ad is saying you should drink this while it is hot outside
The Skyy Vodka advertisement can be viewed through the lenses of gender and sexuality. A heterosexual man would respond differently than a heterosexual female. A man would be drawn towards the image based on it's sex appeal, and a female could view the image in multiple ways. Because the females in the image have their head out of the picture, a woman may see the image and get offended because the women are just seen as objects.
On the other hand, a woman may view this image and feel jealous because the bodies are "perfect", tan, etc. They might want to strive to look similiar so the advertisement will attract them as well.
image:skyy vodka I think the skyy vodka ad uses the women's sex appeal to try to get young men to buy their product. Also I think that the girls being so skinny appeals to females as well because it shows that if u drink their product you'll look just like them.
through the gender and sexuality lens, i thought that the 'It's game day' ad was geared more toward males under the age of about 34. I thought that it says that if you are playing video games, it only gets better with a beer. This is not good because most video game players are under the legal age for drinking. It is sort of like saying that it's cool to play Gamecube and drink Heineken.
Using the lenses of gender, I believe that the third ad can pertain to both the teenage male and female audience. Teenage men think that drinking this drink will make them cooler. Teenage women can view this ad and it might give them the thought that drinking this drink will make them thin and more attractive. This ad demonstrates that the ad company is using these attractive women to show that their product will make their lives better in some way.
If you look at the Skyy ad through the marxist lens it shows you power. It could be geared towards men to say if you drink Skyy Vodka you'll be able to be with these beautiful women or if your a woman you could be these beautiful women. These women though aren't begging for money. The ad shows that at least at this point they have a pretty easy life. They can afford to just lounge around on the beach all day drinking. Most public beaches in America don't allow alcoholic beverages so if they're here they must be at some private beach which also suggests wealth and power. Even down to the little umbrellas in their drinks and the shoes on their feet. They aren't lounging around in flip flops or sandals they have on high heels another indication of glamour. People want wealth and power which is what makes this ad so desirable to all. It's not the women we see it's the money. The power which we associate with Skyy Vodka that's what makes us want to buy their product.
image: spongebob squarepants cereal race and culture lens this add attracts the younger generation of the american culture. race is not an issue in this advertisement unless you think fictional sea creatures have developed thier own race and our being stereotypical on this cereal box. other cultures might find this add as the epitome of the "dumb american" image, thus not letting their poor child eat the spongebob cereal. ethnicity is not a part of this add because spnges, pineapples, jellyfih, and starfih are not considered an ethnic group...yet. or are they?
Sky vodka: gender lense I think this image is targeting the male audience seeing as how there are two half naked girls laying next to the bottles. The image shows the girls as objects because they have no face so when you look at the picture and see sky vodka you automatically think wow ill get hot chicks if i drink sky.
The Heineken add is, in my opinion, directly targeting young males because beer and video games together are usually associated with males. Looking through the gender and sexuallity lense this add is directed towards males rather than females and especially towards younger to middle aged males and maybe even underaged drinkers.
again from a gender lens: Male:the attractive women make the men look first at their bare bodys and then to the vodka, linking the two together mentaly, attractive women and skyy vodka Female:refer to my previous post
I looked through the gender and sexuality lens with the vodka ad. I think that for some women it can be degrading and other women might think it is iconic. The woman in the ad have on a little swimsuit and very slim bodies. Some women might strive to look like that, and maybe drinking the vodka will make them look more glamourous like the women in the ad. Other women might look at it as disrespecting to the woman's body, since the woman aren't fully clothed. It also can disrespect the woman's image, the woman are in high heels and laying on the beach drinking the vodka, I personally think it makes the woman look more like an object than an icon.
Skyy vodka If you look at this image from the gender lens it makes women think to be skinny they have to drink vodka. When using icons as used in this advertisement it makes women want to look like them so they drink. This advertisement may influence young girls to drink as well. The advertisement shows women laying out on the beach drinking and having a good time which can make other people believe to have a good time you have to drink.but what is the real target audience?
So no one commented on the SpongeBob Cereal Advertisment, so I will. From a childs point of view it is someone they "see" and "imitate" everyday so when they see SpongeBob Squarepants on a cereal box while shopping with mommy they will want to get it, and in the instence of a parent saying no i think the child would go as far as throwing a tantrum to get what they want...because it's SpongeBob.
the spongebob cereal ad is targeting more towards kids who watch the show. like my little brother whose crazy about that show, begged my mom to get it just because it had spongebob on it. But im not gonna lie i ate some of it and its just delightful. but the ad works
the spongebob ad is targeting everyone young and old and both genders. younger kids will propably enjoy the cereal more than older because its spongebob. but older people will propably not care as good as its good.
The spongebob cereal advertisement would be viewed through the age lens, in which I see that kids really would like buying the cereal if they watch that show. It's been around since we were kids. The Skyy Vodka ad has two girls in there.
The Skyy Vodka ad contains two women laying out, but how they're sitting looked odd to me. They look a bit awkward and uncomfortable, which I know is not what is trying to be portrayed, but then I noticed that they're almost mirror images of eachother. They're also sharing their mixed drink, and to me this seems almost like a hidden attempt at pushing conformity to sell their product. The way the girls are the same, faceless beings having a good time, that you too could put yourself, man or woman, into that scene and have fun yourself.
everyone keeps talking about the spongebob ad so i will comment on another.. i think the skyy vodka ad is interesting. one of the girls is upide down.. maybe its trying to get the feeling across when you drink this? the orange is eye catching as well.
The spongebob cereal is obviously targeted towards little kids. The character is very big on the box and colors are bright and vibrant. However spongebob is awesome and i wouldn't doubt that adults and teens would enjoy the cereal too.
I love what Stephanie N said! Totally--making them faceless also allows you to put yourself into the ad. Really interesting--they ARE mirror images of each other!
