In Josef Sudek's work most of his photos show some type of landscape and the tree is the main object that stands out why do you think he does that? The land that the trees are on dosent look well taken care of and the trees look like that as well. Could this be a city that has a lot of pollution considering the river looks to be dirty or is it fog? If you take a close look at the photo you can see the buildings look to be an older model? where do you think this photo was taken? Why do you think the photo has no color? In my own opinon I like photos like this because no own really looks at them from different perspectives and sees the meaning of them.

  1. to me, this picture is a little frightening. I get the feeling like something is going to come out of that fog and I'm waiting for it. But I don't think whatever is coming out of the fog is going to be something good, like Jesus or something. I think it's going to be something bad or dangerous. I don't really know why i feel like that.

  2. Reminds me a lot of crystal lake from the Jason Vorhees movies, i don't know why but it does. Very creepy and dark. I feel something bad is going to happen.

  4. I agree that this photo is very ominous because of the lack of color and the fog. In your post you mentioned buildings. I dont see any buildings, is that because they are in the background and hard to see?

  5. Ominous is a great word to use, Emily. But I kind of feel like just melding into the fog. Becoming one with it.

  6. I think that the fog and the dark, drury background make this picture look really creepy and scary. I also agree with the first person about how it looks like something is going to come out of the fog.

  7. I agree the pciture is a bit creepy and you wonder, what made the artist picked this picture? does it resemble his life in a way?

  8. To answer Emily's question yes, the bulidings are in the background you just have to look really close to see them.

  9. This picture has a very "dead" feeling to it. Has almost no color variation at all which ads to the creepy feeling of this photo. Very fitting for a horror movie.

  10. i really like this picture, and i think that it also says things arnt always what they appear.
it looks to me like it could be in central park or a park in a large city.
who would expect to find such beauty in a cement box?

  11. I think this painting has less to do with pollution and more to do with the dark past of the city. I see it as you can't see the city for what it really is which is a beautiful town because it is clouded by the past and all the brutal things done there. The trees I think represent that it was always a big looming city but that it was once a small village without any crime and people weren't rude and inconsiderate. They cared for their neighbors and though they had disagreements no one was just murdered or robbed every other day. I think it's nostalgic for the familarity of a small town.

  14. I do agree that the photo gives a very creepy feeling and that it seems like something is going to jump out of no where. but if you read what daisy escape said it is true that things arent always what they appear. and you cant go by what you just see you have to look at it closely and see it differently
